What do the IM Symbols Mean?

Internationalization can be a very broad topic and a little unwieldy for those new to the concept. Basically, however, the entire topic can be broken down into three broad categories, which we call the IM Triangle:

The 3 Categories of InternationalizationAsset Internationalization: Moving gold overseas, setting up foreign bank accounts and structures, international brokerage accounts etc.

Personal Internationalization: 2nd Passports, 2nd residencies, non-investment overseas real estate (i.e. a 'bolthole') etc.

Income Internationalization: Diversifying an existing business, building a virtual or overseas business, active foreign investments etc.

For some people, they are only interested in asset diversification. For others, planting an income and/or personal flag is more important.

That’s why, to help make it easier, we have started to add symbols to our content to help make it easier for you to immediately identify whether you will be interested in the following content. Current symbols include:

Content flagged with this symbol explores some aspect of personal internationalization – 2nd Passports, 2nd citizenships, non-investment real estate (i.e. a ‘bolthole’), or other relevant information needed to successfully live overseas. In addition, content regarding the diversification of your “digital self” (i.e. internet account diversification) is grouped into this category.

Income DiversificationIncome Diversification

Content flagged with this symbol explores some aspect of income internationalization – Diversifying an existing business, building a virtual or overseas business, active foreign investments, or any other relevant information needed to successfully diversify your income across multiple jurisdictions.

Internationalization InterviewInternationalization Interview
